My app doesn't talk to the rest of my business
An app that can't reach your CRM, your sales tools or your billing platform isn't really part of the business yet — it's a second business someone keeps in step by hand. It's also usually stuck on whoever's platform built it, which limits what you can do with it next.
Does this sound familiar?
- It only runs on the platform that built it, and you can't move it into your own cloud account
- Someone re-types new sign-ups into your CRM, or exports a spreadsheet each week
- Invoicing happens separately in Xero or Stripe, from a list someone copies across
- Sales can't see what a customer does in the app, and the app doesn't know what sales agreed to
What it costs to leave it
- Copying between systems is where your records quietly stop matching each other
- Staff time goes into keeping two versions of the truth in step instead of into the work
- Simple questions — how many customers, how much revenue — take an afternoon to answer
- Whoever hosts the app controls your costs, your data and what you're allowed to change
What good looks like
- The app runs in your own cloud account, on your own billing, so you can move or change it whenever you want
- A new customer in the app appears in your CRM without anyone typing them in
- The app and your billing platform agree on who's paying for what, without a monthly reconcile
- One place to look for the numbers, rather than three that disagree
